Tuesday

Once again another Spring like day with cool temps to start the morning and eventually reaching the high 70's, yikes this is great weather as the humidity has stayed away another day. The morning was much the usual with Chester crowing me awake around 5 AM, then a cup of green tea, my quiet moments to reflect, give thanks and to lift up those I know who are in need. Afterwards I had my bowl of oatmeal with blueberries, strawberries and a banana before jumping on the old bike and pedaling out to the rec for some pickle ball. We had a good crowd once again as many of the snowbirds have come South and the play was excellent once again. Lots of wet shirts. After 2 1/2 hours I pedaled out for home.

Amy and the kiddos were coming for lunch so I picked 3 lettuces, kale, beet greens and a green pepper and made a huge salad for lunch while Nancy was at the rec doing her treadmill workout. We were eating healthy today and going meatless after the nice tenderloin for supper last night. After lunch Sam and I headed outside to play and work in the garden. He and Chester were once again pals and they played along the fence; that keeps Sam entertained as well. He also loves to play with bugs much like Ava did when she was that age and to dig in the dirt. Each day when he leaves us Amy has to bathe him before putting him down for his nap; he is a boy through and through.

After Amy and the kiddos left we chilled reading and Nancy speaking with her folks in Michigan. No real change either way except her dad is now eating very little so that's not a good sign for any progress health wise. The staff has to now use a lift to get him up and into a chair. The edema is still present but not nearly as much.

I cut a huge pot of Swiss chard and sauteed that with olive oil and fresh garlic in a large skillet. That dish has to be one of my all time favorites and it complements any entree. We just a had baked sweet potato and the Swiss chard for supper, yikes was that ever good. After supper our good friends and neighbors, Dan and Carol came by and we took a good long walk through the hood. We got back to the house a little after 8 PM. I headed to the shower and it wasn't long afterwards while watching a PBS special on the Pharaoh Ramses the sandman came by. LATER
