Saturday

Well it was a day of major temperature change from hot and muggy to cool and crisp. Not cold but at least cool enough to once again open the house up to fresh air. We had rain and drizzle for most of the morning until around lunch time when the sun broke through but it was still muggy until late in the evening when a rush of cool air from the north came through, that is so nice and now only if it will stay this way for awhile.

The morning started out a little different as I stayed in bed until nearly 7 AM even after the rooster next door crowed his usual time but finally gave up. We did our quiet times then had a lite breakfast; Nancy with oatmeal and I had 2 slices of pumpkin nut bread. We got ready to head out to meet up with our house church at Twill Auto Shop in St.Pete. Dan our neighbor and dear friend owns a family run auto repair and he offers the use of his shop every 3 months to help out single moms. Its one of our Element house church outreach ministries. We have the moms sign up for an appointment during the hours of 9-12 then we change their oil, filter, check air pressure in their tires and even plug a few, change burnt out bulbs and do some minor repairs all for free. The girls(house church members wives) share coffee and donuts with them as well and listen to their stories in the waiting areas and then present them with a free $10 gas gift card. We have several who are now repeat moms as they enjoy the $40 value but they need some attention and love from others. That's just one of our ways of sharing the blessings we have to others and who are strangers.I think we did 16 cars with just a few no-shows.

We finished up with the appointments just before noon so we headed home to get 2 whole chickens stuffed with rosemary and basil from my garden along with a beer in the rear. I loaded the smoker with hickory wood I brought back from the mountains and let those birds cook until about 5:30. They were magnificent and the meat fell off the bones with just a great smokey flavor tinted with the taste of rosemary. Yikes they were masterpieces. Nancy also rolled skin on red potato's in olive oil along with chopped up fresh rosemary and parsley also from my garden and roasted them in the oven. There was fresh greens beans from the market but we had jalapeno poppers for the appetizer and later during Phase 10 a chocolate cream pie for dessert. What a feed that was.

While chickens were smoking, Nancy took off to the rehab with her mom and visited with her dad while I vacuumed and did some small chores. I finished a read then caught some college football as we were expecting Dan and Carol around 5:30 for supper. Florida lost to Georgia in a close game and W.Va came back to beat Rutgers on a snow filled field. Thats right, snow in the mountains in October. That's a little early for that type of weather. It seems all along the eastern seaboard and mountains areas snow was evident with cold temps.

Supper was yummy and afterwards we played a round of Phase 10 with Carol beating us all and then 9 holes of Golf(card game) Nancy won convincingly. Was not a good night for the guys. They stayed until nearly 11 PM as we chatted about what type of project or ministry we should do for the Christmas season. I was finally able to get a shower and hit the sack around 11:30(way past my bedtime). Anyhow it was a fun day, good eatin' and a chance to do a good deed for those moms who are struggling to raise a family. LATER
