Sunday

Well we are getting the effects from Issac as its been wet, humid and overcast for days. The morning started out with our quiet time and then a lite breakfast before we headed out for worship at Cornerstone. We had a good crowd with great music and a great message. We headed home and just got in the cabin when we got a heavy downpour. We quickly got a couple whole chickens ready for the smoker. I picked fresh Rosemary from the herb patch along with some fresh garlic and then I put a couple fresh picked ripe red apples into the cavity as well.

We got those on around 12:45 with the Hickory smoke reaching into the cabin while I did a couple little chores as we got ready for my baby sister Dee, husband Mike and their Jack Russell, Bonnie. Boy is she a mess as she is into everything outside and will go after a bear if she can find one to fight. After our company arrived we ate some ham sandwiches then Mike and I took off on the golf cart to the corn patch and sure enough I had a very large raccoon I had trapped overnight. He was not happy to be in that cage and was just covered with mud as it had rained overnight. I loaded him or her up and took it over across the parkway and turned it loose in the woods over there.

The girls took off to the Blue Ridge Gallery to visit as we have gotten to know the owners plus the girls really like to peruse the gallery. Mike and I watched a little tennis until the girls got back. We were concerned for the girls as the sky really opened up with a gully washer. We got 11/2 inches of rain in a very short time.

I took the chicken off around 6:15 and yikes was it ever cooked just right. Nancy had a big pot of 1/2 runner beans cooking along a few ears of corn the 'coon missed and then a huge fresh salad. While the girls cleaned up Mike and I headed back to the top of the mountain with the fresh baited cage to see if there is another 'coon in the area. We skyped with Kelly in Missouri as Jordan was gone. It was good to see her and Molly(dog).

Afterwards we got out the fresh apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and wow was that ever tasty. Well It was time for a nap but instead we taught Mike and Dee how to play Phase 10. Well it was nearly 1 AM when we finally called it a night after Dee won the first game and Nancy won the second one. It was the gals night, LATER
