Friday

Well it was another beautiful day here in the mountains and it started for us around 8 AM. After our quiet times we settled for a bowl of boring oatmeal before I ventured out to check on the gardens. There isn't much to check on since just about everything is gone except for the beets that are starting to come back. Most every plant now has some small green leaves showing despite being eaten off and pulled out of the ground by a deer. I fed all of the potted plants and then repotted some Swiss chard seedlings and then sowed some spring onions from seed as well as a couple more Celebrity tomato plants. Hopefully they will make and I will take them back to Florida in Nov.

I decided to remove and replace some of the timbers that I had around the lower garden with rocks. This took me most of the morning but I like the results and I won't have to worry about these rocks getting termites. I finished that job and I knew it must be close to lunch time as the oatmeal was wearing thin so we had a couple cans of sardines, onions, crackers and mustard. Wow is that ever one of our favorite lunches. After eating we piddled around in the flower beds cutting all of the dead heads and stalks. We decided to then take off for the top of the mountain for our daily hike. Wow was it ever a nice day with just enough coolness in the air to keep the sweat down.

We made it to the top without stopping(or at least I did as Nancy made one stop). We saw our friends John and Shirley who were up just for the day with a friend of theirs from church. We stopped and visited Jetta as she and Joe got back from W.Va. after being gone for a week assisting with the care of their nephew. Joe took off again back to W.Va. after mowing the yard. What a nice thing for Joe to do. It was good to be greeted by Zeke as we approached their driveway.

I came back and fired up the riding mower and did the yards which took a little over an hour. It was going on 5 o'clock so we read for about an hour then Nancy heated up the left over stuffed peppers and taters for supper, yeow was that ever tasty.  Jodie, Gerald and Gabriel came up around 7:30 and we played 3 hotly contested games of Spades and the guys once again won All 3 games by big scores. Seems we have been victorious the last 2 times with 3 wins each time. That is a record for us as we usually split in games. Well its nearly 11PM and they have just left after a fun filled evening.

I want to say Happy Birthday to our son-in-law Tyler as he turned 34 today. He sure has been a great husband to Amy and father to Ava and Sam. We love him lots, LATER
