Sunday Morning

Well Saturday turned out to be a spring like day in the mountains with cool, clean, crisp temps that held for most of the day. The humidity had taken leave and the bright sunshine with just enough of a breeze kept it pleasant. Nancy was actually chilled in the shady areas. If only this weather would hold for another couple months but hot humid temp's are in the forecast for later this coming week. Oh well it's been nice for this time of the year.

The morning started with the roosters dueling before daylight but we managed to tune them out until nearly 7 before rolling out. I noticed the neighbor was in the back yard retrieving that rogue hen who had flew over the fence once again and was in the garden; so she was in the cage the rest of the day, thankfully. That chicken can destroy a garden in no time and she is the only one of the 7 hens who can fly; too bad she has to be caged but the alternative is dumplings if she continues in my yard.

Nancy made buckwheat cakes with a banana in the batter for breakfast and those held me until a late afternoon snack of a few almonds. She drove her mother to the mall for some shopping while I caught up on some yard work; afterwards we got ready and headed over to the Walsingham County Park where there is a marked 6 mile paved trail throughout. Well that was a long hike and luckily it was flat. The scenery was nice as the trail wound around a huge lake that was surrounded by palmettos, scrub pines and jack oaks. We saw some snakes, fish, tons of ducks and a few gators. There were even a couple weddings that were happening at a couple of the shelters, so needless to say it was more interesting than walking the hood. There were lots of bicyclist, joggers, walkers and even a dog park for the furry critters to play in a fenced area.

I hand watered the garden after getting back and Nancy started on supper. Once again we were having our favorite red meat, venison in burritos. Yeow was that ever some good eatin' with fresh peppers, tomatoes, lettuce and cilantro from the garden. After the cleanup it was time to watch the college basketball semi's and the first seed team Louisville was having their hands full with the number 9 seed. We also had the Ray's game on and they were winning with some good pitching, finally. I spent the rest of the evening on the sports channel while Nancy was on the social network.

We did speak with our "mountain mom" and she said it finally warmed up enough to venture outdoors. Mechelle our close mountain friend was taking Caleb(son) for baseball tryouts at the ball field; so it looks after the blizzard conditions on Thursday that spring was on the way in. We are happy to hear that as that means its closer to heading back to the mountains, to our cabin and friends, LATER
