Wednesday

Well the morning was much the usual with Chester next door loud and clear through the hood at 5'ish in the morning.  I have picked up a head cold or some allergy as I have a runny nose so after my quiet time and a lite breakfast of fruit I headed out to the rec for just an hour and a half of pickle ball. We had a lite crowd of 8 players and as they dropped out I too headed home around 9 'ish instead of the usual 10 AM. Doug one of the original players got his feet tangled and fell striking his head pretty hard and quickly swelling occurred on the front of his head. We iced it immediately but he responded that he would just leave and recuperate at home.

After pedaling home from the rec and a quick stop at the library I did a little garden work before heading in to read while Nancy headed to the doctors again. She got a call from the echo cardiogram results and she has some problems so she made an appointment with a heart doctor on Tuesday. The nurse tried not to get her all riled up and indicated she should get with a specialist to determine what steps she needs to accomplish to remedy these anomalies. It would be difficult to be able to enjoy our time at the cabin if she had to worry about her heart not working properly, Oh well!!!

Amy and the kiddos came for lunch and afterwards Sam and I headed out to the back yard where he loves to be. I dug him a couple fish'in worms and he was in his glory. After they left I took a nap also and doubled up on the Vit C and garlic. I got into a book titled THE RAPE OF NANKING. This occurred a few years prior to  Japan bombing Pearl Harbor as Japan was quickly becoming a colonist nation. A conservative estimate put the death of Chinese civilians at over 300,000 as the Japanese wreaked havoc in that city. The brutal killing of the POW'S as well as the women and children is much like on the scale of the Holocaust to the Jews. I had never heard about this instance and author Iris Chang did a remarkable job of filling in the pieces to what occurred on mainland China in the 1930's. Original photos accompany this story as well. This book leaves you with many questions much like how could a group of people be so ingrained to murder the innocence of civilian and kill outright all POW'S by beheading and shooting them in the back of the head. There were games played by Japanese soldiers to see how many people they could behead in a day as well as rape the women and children and then kill them outright when they were finished with their gang rapes.

We had house church tonight and we discussed the trueness of Jesus and how are we affected  by peer pressure and  what others might think. We had a lively discussion for hour before deciding to do a meal for our next get together. I volunteered to smoke or barbecue some chicken and have others prepare the side dishes. I tuned into what the last half of Survivor and to pick up on the Rays game during commercials. The Rays won again despite the loss of 2 key players due to injury, Go RAY'S, LATER
