Tuesday

Well the rain has stopped but the temps are still pretty chilly, down into the 40's to start the day which began around 7 AM. After our quiet times, coffee and green tea we ate some oatmeal and energy bars. We(Dan, Carol, Nancy and I) decided to head south around 10AM on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We saw lots of wildlife on the parkway as well as some beautiful leaf sites. We stopped at Doughton Park for some pics before heading on down to Boone.

We made a long stop at the Christian bookstore in Boone and browsed this beautiful store for an hour or so. While the prices are a little steep compared to purchasing the same articles on line or at Sam's we got an idea what's new. This is a beautiful facility and the folks are very nice. After the bookstore we headed on down to the city of Blowing Rock. The cold and fog was present through out the several hours we were in the city. We headed to our favorite restaurant for lunch the Storey Street Grille on main street. We had about a 15 minute wait as we were surprised the town was so alive with folks everywhere; especially since it was during the middle of the week and it being so cold and really foggy. Anyhow we each had a different entree; Nancy did the burger and fries, Carol the fish and chips, Dan the pot roast and myself the meat loaf. Yikes was it ever delicious as well as we had generous portions for all.

We headed up town on foot to check out the many stores; of course the girls visited a multitude of the stores and luckily only made one purchase each. There were some interesting stores as well a craft makers. The candle shop was very interesting. We did learn that Bob Timberlake has closed his beautiful variety store and moved to a smaller venue in a different town. We had a fun time and it was after 4 PM when we decided to head North and out of town. The temps were still in the 40's as we made a couple stops in the town of Boone.

The drive home was interesting and filled with lots of laughter and banter. We did see some turkeys, deer and cows along the parkway and made a couple stops to take pictures. We got back to the cabin around 5:30 or so and decided to do some snacks instead a full supper, while we played a game of Spades. The guys once again prevailed by a large margin. I think after watching Dancing with the Stars we will call it a day, LATER
