Sunday

Well here we are trying to stay warm in the cold damp mountains. We started the day out around 7 AM and during the night and morning it poured rain. The tin roof awakened us with the heavy dour pour around 4AM. After a breakfast of oatmeal and blueberries we did our quiet times then got ready for worship at Cornerstone. Yikes it was blustery at times and the temps were down into the low 40's along with some heavy fog.

After an inspiring message about servant hood along with awesome praise and worship music we headed into town to return some library books at the drop box then stopped at Kerr Drugs for necessities then across the street for a quick lunch at Hardee's for a burger and fries. Yikes I think I like their food for a change. After lunch we headed back to the cabin to get ready for our company coming up the mountain from Clemmons.

The Carlson's; DJ, Jenny, Corrine and Emily came around 2 PM and we had a great visit before starting supper. We played a 7 game set of Sequence and the gals won this time on the 7th game; it was close and raucous as usual. After the game I started the grill for the marinated chicken breasts, Nancy had spuds in the oven along with spinach casserole and French bread. Jenny brought the makins for a delicious salad. We had us a feast and then carrot cake for dessert. They hung around and reminisced, talking, laughing and cutting up until nearly dark when they started down the mountain. The temps outside were really dropping. I could clearly see my breath as I grilled on the back porch.

After the Carlson's left we played a game of Spades and the guys won and then got interested in an old West story about a town called Hell on Wheels that Carol was familiar with. The Panthers lost today in Charlotte to a decent Seahawk team and the Braves got knocked out of the playoffs along with the Ray's who never made it into the post season. Well I finally lit the gas heater as its already into the 30's and its damp and really cold outside. The Botbyl's wanted some cool air and believe me we have it, LATER
