Thursday

Well the morning started around 8 AM and it was a cold morning with temps down into the high 30's. Our cars were covered with ice. The skies were clear with bright sunshine. After our hot drinks and quiet times we had some pastry for breakfast from the Old Salem bakery. We decided to head to Galax, Va. around 11AM.

We stopped at a local furniture warehouse to compare quality and price with what we are offered in Florida; the draw back is there is no shipping out of the local area. After the warehouse we gased up before heading to a local shoe store where the girls made some good buys. Afterwards we headed over to Wal-Mart for some groceries before we decided to stop at a local Mexican restaurant for lunch. The food was exceptionally good and afterwards we headed on back to the cabin after stopping to fill a couple propane tanks. The temps had reached into the 70's.

After getting back to the cabin we decided to take a hike to the top of the mountain; only Dan, Nancy and myself made the hike as Carol is nursing a sore foot. After getting back I replaced the stone wall around the compost area as an animal knocked down about half of the back wall last night. Afterwards I took out the leaf blower and rounded up a bunch of leaves in the back woods yard blowing them down over the bank. I worked up a sweat with this chore walking back and forth and up and down the hill. I worked outside until it was time for supper as it really was a nice evening.

We decided to sauteed onions, green and red peppers for our left over grilled chicken and made fajitas, yikes were they ever good tasting when slathered with sour cream, grated cheese, taco sauce and jalapenos. We also warmed up the palate with the left over cream of broccoli soup. Tomorrow we plan on going to Mt.Airy for the Festival of Leaves during the day and then out to Nikolas for supper, LATER
