Friday

Well this will probably be the last beautiful day this year with temps in the middle 70's and bright blue skies with brilliant sunshine. It was just an awesome day after a cool start with temps in the upper 40's. The morning started around an 8 AM wake up then our quiet times before a breakfast of eggs, grits, toast and a sliced tomato and jalapeno pepper for me. I headed out to check on the yard and what's left of the gardens. I cranked up the the riding mower and mowed the yards after using the leaf blower to clear out some leaves in the back woods yard. I blew a couple trash cans full of leaves into the lower garden and after our company leaves next week I will attempt to work them into the soil with a rotor-tiller.

After mowing we had a lite lunch before heading out to the top for our daily hike. We visited with Norman and his neighbor Dean for a few before heading out to the end of the ridge where we saw our friends Joe and Jetta. Joe is back from W.VA. after spending the last couple weeks there assisting his nephew with some medical issues. It was good to see Joe again and Jetta had picked us up a dozen eggs from her weekly supplier of eggs. We headed on back down the trail and got ready to head over to our "mountain moms" place where I wanted to fix her mailbox. We saw her at her shop where she was trying out her new battery run weed whacker. It was light enough and all she had to do was turn on the switch. That sure will make her edging a whole lot easier.

We took a ride over to her brother Joe's where we picked a a couple bags of bell, jalapeno and red peppers as well as a few 'maters. It was good to see Joe after his week long vacation to Florida with his daughter and her family. He had his place neatly mowed and looking good. He has a knack for growing peppers and his plants where loaded with nice peppers and still has lots of small ones coming on. We shared some of his peppers with 3 of our neighbors and still a bag to share at church on Sunday.

I fried up some Swaii fish and Nancy made red beans and rice along with a fresh garden salad for supper. Wow was that ever tasty. After the clean up I settled in to watch Fox News and now it is almost totally dark at 7:30, LATER  Here are a few pics from our trip off the mountain today.
