Worship at Cornerstone, a Nice Rain, Vacation Bible School and a Small World

When we woke up this morning(7:15 AM) the heavy dew was dripping from the roof, the sun was just breaking through the tall trees and the air was so fresh and clean. There was such stillness in the air except for the many songs of the birds that occupy the woods that surround our cabin. This was truly a great N.C.morning. We checked out the veggie and flower gardens and once again are happy to report no deer damage. The 1/2 runner beans are nearly to the top of the 7 foot poles and are blooming, which means we should be eating the world's best tasting green bean in about 10 days. The squash plants are nearly 5 feet across and just loaded with fruit in various sizes. The tomato plants are loaded with "tennis ball" size tomato's. Nancy's flower beds are beginning to bloom outrageously. The colors of the several flowers are just stunningly gorgeous.

We headed to Cornerstone Christian Church in Sparta and gave thanks again for another week with a great group of fellow believers. We are honored to be part of these peoples lives and to be accepted into their church family. Thank you Cornerstone for loving us, making us feel so welcome and letting us serve in this fellowship. Nancy and I was introduced to new visitor and wouldn't you know it, he was from Hillsborough County,Florida(small world). Immediately I seized the moment to ask him if had heard of the Crossing Church and Revolution. Ken Baxter said he was quite aware of the difference Revo was making with the young college students in the Tampa area.

After church and a late lunch the skies opened up with a heavy downpour for about 2 hours. We eventually had to unplug the computer and t.v. due to the thunder and lightening. I was about to start a new book but suddenly became sleepy so upstairs, next to the tin roof I snuggled in for a snooze. Wow, I love rainy Sunday afternoons. Wasn't long before it was almost time to head out to Cornerstone for the first night of Vacation Bible School....

Nancy and I helped with crafts and had as much fun helping the different age groups to complete their projects as the kids did making them. I think we had as many volunteers as we did kids. There was between 40-50 kids attending despite the rainy evening. This was the first time for VBS in our new facility and the theme was God's Big Back Yard....

We made it back to cabin just before dark and another rain. Wow it's nice not having to worry about the drought that has plagued this area the last 2 years. The gardens and fruit trees are showing the potential for bumper crops this summer especially the apple and pear trees. My wine berry bushes are loaded with fruit as well as the wild blackberry. I will soon be picking them for Nancy to make jelly and maybe I will try to make a little vino. Speaking of vino(remember the fiasco in May) Bobby and I bottled it over the 4th of July. We tasted it as we siphoned it from the carboy into the bottles(racking). Not bad. Oh well in 2-3 months we will let you all know. Well, will go for now missing our friends, families and grand daughters Ava and Annsley.
