Huckleberry Pancakes, Sharpening Chainsaws and a Hike

What a beautiful morning(after we got up at 8:30 AM) with the temps in the low 60's.Wow was it nice to sleep in again. Nancy reminds me it's O.K. as I'm retired and there are no grand babies who need our early morning attention. We decided after our deer assessment and quiet time we would have some huckleberry buckwheat pancakes. Nancy was just finishing fixing the last 2 cakes when we heard a vehicle drive up. Well it was George Redmond(a neighbor around the corner who we have seen just once this summer) on his mule(Kawasaki) with a sack of home grown tomato's(4). We asked him if he had ever eaten huckleberry pancakes and he said"no", so we invited him to eat with us and he did. He mentioned he had to go back(down to his home about an 1 1/2 hours away)around 11AM. I asked if he still had his portable chainsaw sharpener. After eating he sharpened both saws. What a difference that makes over using the hand file. Thanks George!!!

After hanging a couple of loads of laundry we took a long walk to the top and stopped to visit with Nancy and Mike Carmichael and Tommi Ross. We chatted with them for nearly an hour and by the time we got down from the top it was going on 2 PM. We had a quick lunch then took the rest of the afternoon off and read. I finished the book I was reading and Nancy is about through with hers. We read until 5:30 and then started to prepare dinner. I picked a couple of zucchini and yellow squash from the garden. I grilled the zucchini and Nancy boiled the yellow squash and prepared a fresh garden salad. I grilled chicken quarters of thighs and legs.YUMMM...

After cleaning up the dishes we checked out the flower and veggie gardens. I persuaded Nancy to hit some badmiton with me until her arm began to pain her(old age at 51.) Oh well I believe it was the first time she played this summer. It was still very light out and to early to retire to the tube so we sat by the burning trash heap(how romantic) on Saturday evening. We forgot but we had been invited to a fish fry on the Little River but by the time we remembered it was too late. Oh well we are such social whirlwinds. Later, missing our family and grand babies, Ava and Annsley.
