Beautiful Morning,Picking Blackberries again,a Visit from Neighbors and Helen and Joe for Dinner

Wow!! Thursday morning was another great way to start a beautiful day. Dew dripping off the roof, birds singing and no deer damage. After our quiet time to say Thank's for another day and to just pinch ourselves to make sure this is reality. Its hard to believe sometimes when we look out at this part of creation and to think that we have been entrusted to care for and beautify this little corner of the world. Nancy and I feel truly blessed.

I took off for the blackberry jungle again. Equipped with long pants, leather gloves, a straw hat and heavy boots. Wow the briar's are fierce as evident to the many scratches on my hands and arms and today's pickings were for Helen. (The last time she picked berries she got into yellow jackets and got popped twice). That's love!! Anyhow I once again found the mother lode of berries and loaded up both buckets with about a gallon and a half of berries in less than 2 hours.

We were having quests(Joe and Helen) for dinner so I did some domestic chores then Nancy and I decided to walk out to the mailbox(.7 mile one way) for our hike today. On the way we met Joyce(Mt.Ulna,NC.) they have a summer place just around the bend from us. We stopped back on the way and picked up Dan(husband) and we walked up to Gerald and Jodie's new cabin(under construction) then came on up to our place. We sat around for nearly and hour and chatted before they had to get back and we had to get cracking as it was nearly 3 PM.

I then boned and filleted 5 rainbow trout(caught by our 7 year old buddy Caleb Dalton) and got them ready for the frying pan. Nancy had a pot of pinto beans a cooking and had already made a fresh garden salad. She was putting together a Martha White cornmeal batter for a greased black iron skilett. Yumm. I had to put the computer up(in the hall closet) as space is limited and I write this mess of jumbled thoughts at the table so that means when ever there are people coming for dinner or to play games in the closet goes my machinery for creating. Oh well that easier than making smoke signals or better yet interpreting them.

Dinner was Great!!! There were no leftover's and Joe even had seconds(with my permission) and to top this off Nancy make a chocolate cream pie with whipped cream on top. So much for cholesterol control. After dinner we sat on the porch and talked, trying to stay awake(full belly) until it was time to for our guests to leave. Nancy and I cleaned up(I washed the dishes that helps get the blackberry juice stain out of my fingers) and Nancy dried and put away. We then cranked up the golf cart and headed to the top for some pics(a little hazy down below) it was cooling off fast on top so we headed back without any sunset pics and stopped at Ray and Audine's and played with their 3 puppies before heading down to say Hi to Gerald and Jodie( who are up for the weekend). We with play games(spades and domino's) tonight with them when we get back from our day trip. Later, missing all of our family and especially Ava and Annsley
