Met a new friend-Mr Blackie

Wow, what another beautiful day in the neighborhood. Although for awhile it sprinkled and looked like it was going to storm(we could use the rain). We had a great day of worship at Cornerstone and stopped in town for a few supplies before heading back to the cabin. I putzed around the place after lunch; transplanted some lettuce, cleared out a flower bed and watched a little of the French Open Tennis. Many years ago I played several tennis tournaments and instructed beginning tennis now I've relegated myself to pickle ball only with a little badminton occasionally.Well back to being in the yard when I heard this bloodcurdling scream from Nancy about a huge snake. Sure enough there was a rather good size black snake where we had previously weeded and transplanted. He finally meandered on down the yard and out into the woods. Black snakes are scary when you walk up on them but they are nice to have around as they seem to keep other poisonous snakes away as well a eating many mice. We then headed over to the Dalton's(Andy and Mechelle) for a small group meeting. Of course that entails food so we took salsa and chips. We had a great meeting and met 2 other new couples for the first time. Afterwards we went down into their pasture met several of their 12 horses. All are very tame and most are ride able. Nancy is still having post-traumatic stress reactions from her fall a couple of years ago so she gets nervous when you talk about riding. We are having 4 couples out to our place Saturday night for a wienie roast dinner and domino's afterwards. Caleb the 2nd grader of the Dalton's is a mutton buster(rides sheep as in bull riding) on the rodeo circuit and Callie(daughter) shows and halter rides as well. Its after 10PM already, so until later missing our babies an grand babies.

Can't wait to have some of Nancy's salsa!

Send that snake down to our red cabin. We have plenty of mice for him (her?) to eat.
