Staking tomato's,Hiking, Refurbishing the Kids wagon and Picking Cherries

Wow what a difference a little rain shower will due for the temperature. Last night a small shower settled the dust and brought out the flannel shirt for Nancy this morning. The temp's have been in the 90's but will only reach the high 70's today(according to Ray's weather)...... I staked tomato's yesterday as they have grown a foot in the 2 weeks + we've been here. My how time fly's!!!! The cherry tomato's are loaded with eatable size fruit, just waiting for them to ripen.( no salmonella here). The rest of the garden despite the lack of a good rain is doing well with; radishes up, mustard greens up, potato's up(these are the ones our friend and good neighbor,Odell Wright gave us on Memorial Day to plant), 1/2 runner's are up, onions up and some okra and beets are up. The lettuce is a tough go here but some I started from seed in Florida are struggling to survive with this hard compacted earth..... After getting everything staked Nancy and I took a long hike to the top where we ran into the Joe and Jetta Browning(year round residents). Zeke their mixed collie, mutt, whatever breed kept looking for KC. Made us sad for the moment that we couldn't explain......After the hike and left over trout lunch(thanks again to Caleb Dalton) I headed to the basement to catch up on some beautification painting. The colonial style, bow backed rocker I restored needed a coat of polyurethane. Boy was it nice in and out of the sun in the cool basement so I then realized Bobby and Amy's wagon(27 years old) could use a little paint so when grand daughter Annsley arrives in July she can ride around in grand old style. The wheels needed white paint where rust had begun to show, the tongue needed blackening and the side boards where much faded. WOW does it look neat and to think I use to pull her daddy and aunt around in this vehicle. Ava rode in it last year with Phoneix Perry(our neighbor in Florida and Ava's first beau) but not with all this new make over..... Ray Todd stopped by after checking on the progress at Jodi and Gerald's cabin(next door to us and just down the drive) to invite us over to pick cherries from his 3 trees. They had no fruit last year as a late freeze killed the cherries as well as the peaches. Nancy and I picked about 3 quarts; enough to make a cobbler for Saturday nights Sequence game(don't pay any attention to Jodi's comments)....... Since we have had a tough time staying on the Internet these blogs have some carry over from previous days activities. Last night I wrote this blog and hit the wrong button(key) and sent it into drafts and could not retrieve it to post it. So here it is this AM..... On Sunday we visited Caleb Dalton and his family and got to meet many of their horses up close. Of course Nancy is horse crazy( she owned a quarter horse when I first met her) and I can tell you some good and horrific stories over the years(broken ribs, etc) about Nancy and her dealing with horses. Well will close for now missing our babies and grand babies.
