Hiking,Built a bird house and Racked my wine

It was a cool morning as Nancy was wearing a flannel shirt. The birds were so happy chirping and filling the crisp morning air with their music as we did our quiet time with the Creator. What a beautiful way to start each day.....I now have had my first batch of grape juice fermenting for 11 days and the process of releasing CO2 looked as if it was over. I took the big primary fermenter into the cool basement for what is referred to as "racking." After sanitizing and sterilizing all of the equipment that comes in contact with the juice I began to siphon the liquid into a glass carboy. That process went smoothly and without incident. Next I added some additives and stirred the gas out of the liquid by hand with a long handle spoon. I then reinserted the airlock and will let it set until the 28 th of June when it will be time to bottle and cork..... Nancy and I then took a hike out to the mailbox(.7 of a mile) and stopped to visit with Grant and Shirley and their friend's Russs and Linda( they are building a new cabin just up the road from Grant's)........ After lunch we both watered some new flowers and veggies. I retired to the cool basement and put another coat of polyurethane on the rocking chair. Nancy bugged me about building her a birdhouse so she could paint it like a real log cabin...... George Redmond came by on his mule (ATV) and shared he had both of his knee's replaced at one time. He stated he was off until he retires in October.... We had a great dinner then took another hike to the top and visited our old friends John and Shirley Cottle. They will be up from Mocksville until the weekend. We sat out on their deck until both Nancy and Shirley complained of being cold. It was starting to get dark so we headed back and ran into the Cline's who had just arrived from Harmony,N.C....... We had a great day and are so thankful for our many friends while missing our babies and grand babies.
