Weed eating, House cleaning and guests for dinner

Hey all here we are with a very full tummy and where the guys whopped up on the gals in a game of Sequence. The food was superb as usual and way too much. I put 2 whole chickens smothered in fresh garden herbs in the smoker for 4 hours with lots of apple and oak wood. Yummmm. Nancy did oven potato's, cole slaw and corn bread in a cast iron skillet. Kimberly brought corn on the cob, broccoli casserole and tomato pie and Audine brought fresh peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream, Yummmm!!!! No wonder we only played 9 games before everyone got to sleepy. The party broke up around 9:30 PM. Oh well Nancy and I Had a full day with it starting a little after 7AM. The temp was 60 degrees and quite pleasant to spend a few quiet moments outside in the freshness of the new day. Afterwards it was weed whacking the drive and the entrance to Black Bear Ridge. I then shoveled and cleaned out a culvert and a ditch that had filled in during the winter rains, also managed to trim back some bushes that were beginning to grow into the roadway. After having a bite of lunch I finished turning over the last strip in my garden. I noticed the half runner beans were up as well as beets, okra, radishes and mustard greens. I then gathered and sharpened 10 sticks that will used by our guests on Saturday for roasting hot dogs over an open fire. We also saw Mr.Blackie several times toay. Well we finally had a 5 minute rain shower this evening which brought the temp down and caused the wind to increase dramatically. Tomorow we are off at 9AM to Lexington,N.C. with Helen and Joe. Lexington is about an hour and a half away. Well until later, missing our babies and grandbabies.
