Monday

Well it was in the 30's this AM when I finally crawled out of those warm flannel sheets around 8 AM, Ahh retirement; I love it. After our quiet times Nancy made breakfast burritos with fresh peppers, onions and tomato's with home grown eggs from the Dalton farm. Yikes is that ever good eatin' and they held me until about 1 PM when I shared a yogurt and an apple for lunch. After putting in a load of laundry I ventured out to do a little yard and garden work. Nancy decided around 11 AM that she was ready for the first of our hikes to the top of the mountain. She was dressed in sweats and a hooded coat as we started to the top. It was a pleasant walk with leaves a foot deep in parts on the back road. We saw Joe blowing his collection of leaves from his yard so we stopped and chatted for awhile before continuing on across the top of the mountain.

After our hike we started taking the porch furniture and hauling it down to the shed where it will be stored until next spring along with the benches from around the fire circle were stored beneath the back porch. We usually do this chore on the day before we head out but since it's supposed to rain and turn cold later this week I'm glad to have put them away in a dry space for the winter.

Nancy made a dozen or so cookies so we fired up the golf cart and headed over to our "mountain moms" place with fresh baked cookies for a visit. We stayed about an hour before it started to really cool off so we headed back to the cabin and decided to get in another hike to the top to warm us up and it worked. It was much warmer in the woods as we hiked and I was able to knock down a huge paper hornets nest in the woods with a rock. Even though it was in the 40's and quite cool I noticed a few hornets emerge from their nest when it hit the ground. Nancy retrieved the laundry while I did some minor chores and then we got ready for a lite supper of hot dogs with chili sauce and a salad. We are trying to eat down the freezer so we won't have to haul a bunch of frozen food home.

Well its been an uneventful day except for the cool temp's and tomorrow is the start of some really cold weather heading our way. There is even the chance of snow this week-end, Yikes now that should be an eventful occurrence. Well I will try to get a little baseball in this evening as the Giants are about to close the Rangers out of the World Series in 5 games. LATER
