Friday

This was a catchup day with lots of little things reminding us how much we miss Annsley and Gabe and of course their parents; finding Cheerios that Gabe tossed on the floor under the table, puzzle pieces under the couch that Annsley put together so magnificently and even Jill's makeup pad. It was a world wind 5 days with lots of laughter, too much rich food and late nights games and then they're gone; its so quiet here its almost erie. To make the empty cabin even more dreary we are facing Paw Paw having open heart triple by-pass surgery on Monday in Washington, D.C.

We spent the day cleaning, washing and drying etc, mopping, vacuuming and putting furniture back in its original place. We even cleaned up leftovers for lunch and supper. I managed to pick more wine berries and loosen the soil around some of the garden plants as its rained everyday for a week; not that I'm complaining its just we need a little more sunshine to dry out the gardens. The flower gardens have just sprung to life with beautiful daisy's and cone flowers plus all the other one's we've started or transplanted, even the grass is green and lush.

Jodi and Gabriel came by around 10 AM and we took off to the top of the mountain for our hike of the day then came back to hang more laundry(until it rained then it went into the dryer) and clean out the fire pit. There were lots of used Gabe diapers that didn't burn along with tons of other non burnable items; wow can 6 people and 4 kids(plus all the company) acquire some trash. My compost pile(worms) gets all the food stuff items except for meat. Here in the mountains there is no garbage pick-up so its either burn it or carry it to the dump.

We headed down to Jodi and Gabriel's as Gerald headed back to Raleigh a couple days ago too play some domino's after supper and Gabriel smoked us good with a big win. It was after 9:30 when we finally headed out in a drizzle as it had rained most of the evening; at least it was a nice soft rain and sounded wonderful on the tin roof. That sound sure made for great sleeping after a hot shower. I read maybe one paragraph then turned the lights out thanking GOD for the safe return of Bobby and the family back to Florida and for mercies for Paw Paw's up coming surgery on Monday. We will head that way on Sunday morning to be with him and the girls(Josie, Pat and Dee). Well better get off here, as today(Sat.) is another busy one with supper and games with the Dalton Gang this evening, LATER.
