Sunday

Well needless to say once again I watched the clock all night long until 2:50 AM when I said why am I laying here tossing and turning when I could be packing and getting ready to head out of Florida for N.C. Nancy was breathing deeply(snoring)so I got up after getting absolutely no shut eye, shaved and by then Nancy had awakened. We left the house at 4 AM. The traffic was very light and in places none at all so we made our first stop in Ocala so I could walk around and get the blood moving especially in the left leg. It was still dark outside so we walked in a lighted area in the rest area.

Our next stop was for breakfast at Mickey D's in Baldwin, Fl. which I actually like; 3 cakes, scrambled eggs, sausage biscuit and a potato cake( that was a little greasy but tasty) all for 4 bucks. Yikes that held me all day long until about 7 PM this evening. We stopped a total of 6 times with 2 for gas fillups and we went through Charlotte at 65 mph with no traffic backup due to the Panthers game. We made our finale stop at 2:30 in Elkin at the local Wal-Mart for a grocery run and for some mums. After an hour there we headed up the mountain which saw the temps drop from 86 down below to 75 on top. Wow was it ever beautiful. We actually had to open the cabin up to get some outside warm air inside. We no sooner got the truck backed up to start unloading when neighbors Ray and Audine came by for a visit. They hung around for about an hour visiting.

After unloading, unpacking and seeing to the put away of groceries we got ready for a hike to the top of the mountain. Wow did it ever feel good to use those mountain hiking muscles. We met a deceased old friends son who entertained us with about 15 minutes of his family history. After this visit we headed back down as the sun was starting to settle behind Bull Head Mountain. It was just a beautiful settling and to think we were able to be a part once again thrilled us completely. I came back to hand watered the few remaining veggies; beets, pepper, sugar peas, Swiss chard, kale and onions. Some of the Zinnas were still showing some color as well as the herbs; parsley, basil, thymne and rosemary.

After a lite supper of Campbells bean with bacon soup and balogna sandwiches we decided it was time to hit the showers. I can't begin to tell you how thankful we are for this safe, uneventful trip to these beautiful hills which are starting to show some colors. LATER
