Another Cool Morning with Bright Sunshine and a Yard Party

Well it was definitely a fall morning with beautiful warm sunshine in the afternoon. After a lite breakfast of fruit and our quiet time I worked outside until it was time for a hike. We took off for the top of the mountain around 11AM. It was still cool in the shaded areas, yet very nice in the sunshine. It stayed around 70 for a couple of hours.

After a quick lite lunch I started hauling rocks to fill in an area of the yard that has a tendency to wash out with a heavy rain. I also replaced much of the rocks around the front flower beds. I worked at this chore until 2:30 when it was time to get ready to head down to neighbors Grant and Shirley's for their annual wienie roast. I also headed over to Gerald's to help unload some furniture into their new cabin. This is the first week end they have stayed overnight as their electric and water were hooked up this past week.

We arrived at the Yard Party around 3:30 and stayed until 7:30. When we arrived I was wearing a t-shirt with jeans when we left 4 hours later I had a flannel shirt with another denim shirt much like a light jacket and a cap on my head. The temperature dropped 25 degrees in 4 hours as well as the dew was heavy in the air.

The crowd was about 75-85 folks with a large amount of children. There was tons of hot dogs(we ate none) barbecue pork, red slaw, potato salad, baked beans, chili, chips and Gerald made a fish soup that absolutely delicious. There was tons of desserts. The best I sampled was persimmon custard brownies, YUMMM! Nancy made potato salad which was all eaten and brownies all eaten but a couple. There were several gospel blue grass music makers and singers. This was a great family gathering. It was great to see so many people we have come to know over the years who live in this area as well as lots of folks who live down off the mountain. Thanks again to Grant and Shirley for hosting this annual get together.

Well tomorrow is church Sunday so will close for now missing family , friends, Ava and Annsley.
