Wednesday

Well once again the fowl mouth started crowing this AM early. I tuned him out until 6:30 then rolled out to start the day. It was overcast, humid but warm. After my quiet time and bowl of oatmeal I pedalled out to the rec for an hour and half of pickle ball. Once again we had a good number of advanced players with some great play. I'm still having some ache in the right elbow from tendinitis so I decided to break off the play early.

I stopped by the library for a couple new reads before pedalling on home to work outside in the yards and gardens. I finally saw the sun just before lunch and then it stayed out the rest of the day. Nancy was busy in the kitchen after her treadmill workout. She was fixing GG her belated birthday dinner. Enchiladas, Mexican rice, pinto beans and an apple pie. Amy brought salsa and chips. The meal takes a lot of prep work but was just awesome in flavor. Betsy stopped by and ate as well.

Well it been a little over a week since we have been back from the cabin and we haven't stopped to rest; with the lunches, suppers and baby sitting as well as the rec workouts. The weather has been superb for gardening and working outdoors. I did manage to set down around 4 PM for about an hour in the back yard and read. Wow was it ever nice under the big oak tree, LATER

Tuesday

Well once again those "bloody chickens" started their cackling and crowing around 5 in the morning. I learned from the neighbor the hen laid an egg and that was the reason for all the cackling; anyhow around 6 they settled down and let me go back to sleep until nearly 7, as you can guess I'm not real happy about the 5 AM wake up. It was another beautiful day with temp's reaching the high 70's with bright sunshine and clear skies.

I headed out to the rec after my quiet time and a bowl of oatmeal with blue berries and honey. I got in a good hour and a half of play and we had a good crowd  of about 12 players total. There were lots of wet shirts and still a half dozen or so playing after I left a little after 9. I was scheduled to watch Sam around 10 as the girls went shopping for clothes for Amy for Christmas. Amy and her family are leaving Friday for about 10 days or so in Kansas for Thanksgiving so she was in need of winter clothing.

Sam and I had a great time and he has such an imagination as well. We played trucks and then headed outside where he played with the chickens through the fence and then of course headed for the dirt. He loves dirt and I eventually had to wash him off with the hose before we came back into the house after an hour and a half. That boy likes the outside. I caught up on a little reading while we sat and played in the back yard.

Sam loves his snacks and about every 20 minutes or so he was hungry and wanted a different snack from; animal crackers, corn chips to fruit snacks, fruit drinks and Cheeze-its. He did eat half of a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch as well. He is doing great with his potty training and he had no accidents from mid-morning until nearly 2:30 when they left to head out to school to pick up Ava. We have such a fun time together. After the girls got back Nancy and I headed out to Aldi's for some last minutes items for tomorrow's family dinner for GG's birthday. I dropped her off at the rec on the way home so she could get a workout in on the treadmill.

I headed out to hand water the front yard and the newly planted inpatients then worked my way to the back yard to water the garden and the back yard. We have been back a week today from the mountains and no rain has fallen. We had left over roast beef along with fresh broccoli and a salad for supper. Well its been a full day since I was awakened much to early at 5 AM, LATER

Monday

Well the morning started with the rooster around 5:30 but we managed to tune him out until 7 AM before we decided to roll out. Today was Veterans Day and while a veteran myself I pray for all those who are still on the front lines insuring our nations safety with their commitment to the armed services. After our quiet times we did our own thing for breakfast with oatmeal and fruit. I headed outside to water the gardens and seedlings then cranked up the mower and did the yards. That keep me busy until nearly 10:30 when we decided to head to Lake Seminole Park.

We walked the 2 mile trail through the woods which sure beat walking the streets through the hood. The ambiance was delightful but was nothing compared to our daily hike up to the top of the mountain. We encountered several on roller blades, bikes and joggers on the flat paved trail. That was a good workout and the sweat did start as we neared the end. We stopped off at a local health food store for some pro-biotics for Nancy before heading home. Amy was picking up GG and coming for lunch along with Sam.

After lunch Sam and I retreated to the back yard under the shade of the big oak for a couple hours before they had to go. Nancy brought out a plastic rifle she bought a couple years ago that makes the shooting ricochet noise and he was in his element as he usually uses sticks for all his activities. I sat and finished reading IMPERFECT JUSTICE written by the lead prosecutor in the Casey Anthony case. Wow it's remarkable the outcome of that trial and the fact she is free. Once again another travesty of justice and the lack of using any common sense in the deliberations, oh well!!

After they left for home I worked in the back garden and then I grilled a couple pork chops for supper to go along with some fried yellow squash and parsley spuds. After the clean up we tuned into the FOX NEWS and once again the headlines are of scandal, cover up and still no electricity in the North east, LATER

Sunday

The day started out with bright sunshine and warm temps in the 50's as we got ready for another busy day. After our wake up around 5:30 by the rooster next door we managed to roll over and sleep in until 6:30. We did our quiet times, caught up on Face Book and then I set the sprinklers for the garden and yard as the beautiful lush green grass that welcomed us home on Tuesday is now starting to dry up. Our grass in the both of the yards looked the best ever. Last year we had a dirt hill in the front yard and it looked horrible.

We headed out for Tampa with our neighbors Dan and Carol to worship at Element Church. It takes around 45 minutes to get there so we car pool as much as possible. There was a blood drive at the church so I hurried over to the blood mobile to give as it's been nearly 6 months since I gave for that worthy cause. That took about a 1/2 hour and by the time I got back to the service the praise music was just about over. I did get to hear my son give a rousing talk on whats happening to the church in general and why the lack of commitment to honor GOD is occurring in our land. It was an awesome message and we got to renew lots of old friendships as well. Nancy and I have been blessed to be involved in two churches where we have been made to feel so welcomed.

The Tampa Bay Bucs were playing a 1 PM game so instead of taking the interstate home we took the toll road to avoid all the traffic from the game. Too bad the game was blacked out on T.V. as well due to the lack of a sell out in the stands. We later learned the Bucs won the game against the Chargers. We stopped off at CVS pharmacy to renew one of Nancy's scripts then headed next door to Subway for lunch.

We dropped off the Botbyl's then headed down the street to our place where I tuned into another football game. The Dolphins got slaughtered by Titans. I headed out to once again finish setting the garden hose and sprinkler on the rest of the yards and gardens. It was nearing 80 degrees but with no humidity it was pleasant. Nancy was on the phone with our mountain friends; Mechelle and Helen for quite sometime. We got ready and headed out around 5:30 for GG's house as she was cooking a roast to celebrate Nancy's sister Betsy's birthday which occurred days ago. Anyhow the meal was awesome with top sirloin roast and gravy over smashed spuds, squash casserole and salad plus chocolate cake with white icing(I passed on the cake and rolls as I'm getting too fat).

We sat around playing with Sam and Ava before and after eating. Sam loves his trucks and is quite imaginative while playing. We stayed and visited until nearly 10 PM before heading out. Braden and I was involved in the Bears football game. I learned he went to the Bucs game that afternoon and he filled me in on the team's play. Our N.C. Panthers didn't fare to well and got beat up on again. The Bucs play them next Sunday there; should be a lot of fun as we have several Panther fans as friends.

Well that's about it for Sunday, LATER.

Saturday

Well it was just another beautiful day with 50's to start the day around 7 AM. The rooster next door woke Ava and Sam and we could hear them giggling as they spent the night with us. After our abbreviated quiet times we did French toast for breakfast and eggs. Afterwards we just played in the house until Amy and Tyler picked the kids up around 10 AM.

I headed out after they left to head to Lowes and then to Largo Feed Store where I finally found some bush bean seeds. It was hard to believe both Lowes and Home Depot had a limited selection of seeds and not many as well. I stopped at our old veggie stand and found herbs at half the cost of the major stores. There were so many basil plants in one container that I separated them into 5 pots. I also picked up a Thyme plant as well.

When I came back Nancy took off with her mom to Publix for shopping while I planted 2 rows of beans and watered the gardens. It was just such a nice day and the temps eventually climbed to near 80 but there was no humidity which made for a very pleasant day. We had a bite of lunch then Nancy took off again with Amy and Ava to do some shopping for the grand kids as Ava and Sam leave next week for Kansas where it will be cold.

I sat under the oak and read the true facts about the Casey Anthony trial titled IMPERFECT JUSTICE. Unbelievable a jury found her innocent of the death of her baby girl. Oh well its also unbelievable O.J. was found innocent as well. We headed out to GG's around 6 PM for supper as she was trying out a new recipe. It had a little bite and I found it very good. I watched the #1 'Bama college team get upset by a very good Aggie team from Texas. Tomorrow is worship at Element Church in Tampa, Later

Friday

Well this turned out to be a very busy day that started around 7 AM. I had decided to give pickle ball a try after being away from it for nearly 5 months. After my quiet time and a lite breakfast I headed out to the rec on my bike for about an hour an a half workout. It was good to renew old friendships and I picked up pretty much were I left off in May. I never sat down for the first hour and then finally I paired up with a new player and we lost. The workout was good and since it had been such a long time since I pushed myself with a good cardio exercise I didn't want to overdo it so I headed out a little after 9.

I made a stop at the library for a couple new reads for myself and one for Nancy. It was close to 10 before I got back to the house and started working in the garden. I hand watered everything then sowed some kale, cukes, squash, red lettuce and more Swiss chard. Nancy decided to take off to the rec and get in a treadmill workout. I worked in the yard  until lunch time and after a left over grilled deer burger I worked on the over head fluorescent lights in the kitchen. I decided after taking the fixture apart the ballast was shot as well as the bulbs so I headed off to Home Depot.

I changed out the ballast and bulbs and that took me the better part of an hour. I decided once I finished that chore it was time to set out the impatient plants along the front yard. I dug the holes and filled them with composted cow manure while Nancy set the plants. She then watered the front yard by hand while I piddled around in the back yard re-watering the new seedlings and sowing a row of radishes. I did manage to set out my herbs as well. The temps were beautiful during the day with the high around 70 with lots of sunshine and just a slight breeze to make it great working weather.

I grilled a couple marinated chicken breasts for supper and along with some bow tie pasta as Ava and Sam are spending the night. Well after the cleanup I got in a little Fox News in between playing trucks with Sam. It won't take much for me to fall asleep tonight, LATER

Nancy took a couple pics of the chickens next door.

Thursday

Well it was another cool morning with temps in the high 50's but with lots of sunshine. I finally got a little more rest after having some difficult time adjusting to a new bed and surroundings. The rooster started crowing around 5:30 and I did manage to stay in the sack until 7 before starting the day. After a cup of hot green tea I did my quiet time then headed out to water the garden after a bowl of oatmeal.Nancy wanted to do a Sam's Club run so we headed out around 10:30.

Once again we stocked up on several items as there will be lots of family suppers starting with one tonight that featured pot roast, salad, taters, carrots and cresent rolls. GG, Amy, Ava, Sam, Annsley and Gabe ate with us as Bob and Jill headed to Clearwater for a wedding Bob was performing at the Kapok Tree. We had a great time with all 4 grand babies here at once. The kids played great together as well as bathed together.

I almost forgot on the way to Sam's we made a Home Depot run where I stocked up on seedling for my garden and got most of them in the ground after lunch. I planted; cabbage, broccoli, collards, cauliflower, onions, Rosemary, cilantro, parsley, egg plant and romaine lettuce. All of these were seedling. I decided to sprinkle a little lime in the holes where I set the seedlings hoping this will sweeten the soil from all the oak leaves I loaded the garden wit last May. I found lots of earthworms as I dug and spaded the garden so that's a great sign. I also sowed some 1/2 runner bean seeds and some marigolds seeds as well. Tonight the temps are supposed to go down into the high 40's but the afternoons will reach the high 60's.

Well I'm fading fast as the kids just plum wore me out. Tomorrow morning I'm going to give pickle ball a shot as its been 5 months since I've played competitive. I did hit with a friend one time in the mountains but that was before I hurt the left knee so I'm a little apprehensive about giving the knee a good workout, LATER
